1. Play safely: you are responsible for your group

Since 1565 adventures are self-guided walks on public streets, sidewalks and open grounds in St. Augustine, Florida. There is no guide with you. By starting an adventure, you agree that you and every adult in your group are responsible for your own safety and for the supervision of any children with you at all times.

• Watch for traffic, cyclists, trolleys and uneven brick or coquina surfaces. Cross only at crosswalks and obey all signals.
• Never look at your phone while crossing a street or walking near traffic. Stop somewhere safe before reading a clue.
• Do not climb walls, cannons, monuments, fences or historic structures, and do not enter private property, closed areas, cemeteries or places of worship.
• Florida heat, sun, storms and lightning are serious. Carry water, use sun protection, rest often, and stop playing in bad weather.
• Choose an adventure that suits the ages, mobility and health of your group. Routes and walking times are estimates.
• Follow all posted rules, park rules and instructions from staff, rangers and police. Closures, events and construction can change access without notice.

2. Assumption of risk and release

Walking outdoors carries ordinary risks, including trips, falls, heat illness, insect bites, traffic and the actions of other people. You choose to take part voluntarily and you accept those risks for yourself and for any minors in your care. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to release, hold harmless and not bring claims against Since 1565, its owner and its partners for any injury, illness, loss or damage to people or property that arises from playing an adventure, following a route or clue, or visiting any place mentioned on this website.

3. Information only, no guarantees

We research our stories carefully and list our sources, but places, hours, prices, access and conditions change. Content is provided "as is" for entertainment and education. We do not guarantee that any location will be open, accessible or safe on the day you visit. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to an adventure is limited to the amount you paid for it.

4. All sales are final

Each adventure is a digital product that unlocks immediately after payment, so all sales are final and purchases are non-refundable. If your link will not open or something is not working, email hello@since1565.com with your receipt and we will fix it or resend your link. One purchase covers one group playing together. Please do not share or resell your private adventure link.

5. Partner tours, tickets and hotels

Some links on this site go to partners such as Viator, and we may earn a commission. Anything you book through a partner is a contract between you and that company: their prices, terms, safety rules and cancellation policies apply, not ours. Since 1565 is not responsible for third-party tours, tickets, lodging or attractions.

6. Fiction and history

Places, dates and people are drawn from listed sources. Characters such as the Keeper, enchanted objects and treasure stories are fiction and are labeled that way. There is no physical treasure to find, dig for or remove.

7. Privacy

Your progress, notes, sketches and passport are stored only in your own browser on your device. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see your full card number.
